Snicker Delights (With Church Sale Finds)

We had my cousin's daughter here for a couple of nights. It was so much fun to have a girl around the house! Girls are SO different than boys. Always singing, talking, dancing.... and of course they know everything! My heart has always yearned for a girl (although I sure love being a mom to boys!), especially when we are walking through a store and I see all the PINK girl stuff....sigh. I secretly want to get down on the floor and play Barbies again!

So I made these very kid-friendly bars that just happen to be adult friendly too. Very easy and few ingredients. No baking required either, which is perfect in this hotter weather:

Snicker Delights
4 regular sized Snicker Bars with Almonds(see photo below)
6 T. butter
1 T. honey
3-1/2 c. rice krispies cereal
3/4 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Chop up the Snicker bars and melt them along with the butter and honey in a large saucepan.

Once melted, mix well. It will look pretty disgusting at this point:

Remove from heat and immediately add the Rice Krispies cereal and stir well until all of the cereal is coated with the chocolate mixture. Press into a greased 8x8 pan:

Next, melt the chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl for 1 minute. Stir and continue until completely melted, only heating for 15 seconds at a time. Once completely melted, stir and spread onto cereal mixture:

Refrigerate for about 1-1/2 hours, covered, until chocolate hardens. Cut into squares.

I went to a church sale this weekend and found some little treasures, at least in my mind! I just love old dishes. I love anything old actually, even husbands! I especially love old plates and tea cups, even if it's not a set. I like to mix them up and display them. Anyhow, I found these sets of dishes, 4 in each set of plates:

I also love these silver serving trays. I'll use the butter tray for a cell phone holder:

The best part is that I had it all in a big box (with a few other odds and ends). When I carried it up to pay, it was only $3.00 for the whole box! I was so excited. I wanted to go back and start filling more boxes, but I had grabbed all the good treasures I could find the first time around. I love church sales :)

OMG you are funny. Old things even husbands?!! I am so glad that you have Rich. You two were so made for each other. You compliment each other well. You should really do a cook book. You would be so good at it. Hope you had fun with Nevada.

Ooo, those look yummy. I will be adding those cookie bars to my recipe file. BTW, I love old dishes too. I have a cabinet full of vintage glassware and depression glass. I can't seem to pass up a good deal on old dishes if I find one.

I just want to tell you I've been reading your blog for a couple of weeks now and have tried several of your recipes. I can honestly say I haven't tried a bad one yet. The favorite one is the French Silk Pie. It's wonderful reading about your family and keep up the good work. My family appriciates it!

Wow, those look yummy. I have a recipe I'll share if I can find it. Basically it boils down to snickers surprise. Its a peanut butter type cookie with a mini snicker in the middle!

Yum! And I share your love of great old dishes too! I had a full set of 8 of these beautiful old luncheon dishes, the kind with the matching teacup that sits in a corner of the plate. They were each a different pastel color and had a peach rose in the center. I loved those dishes.

My ex threw the box they were packed in into the trash! He said they hadn't been unpacked when we moved so he thought I didn't want it. I was sooo sad. I've looked and looked for another set. I'm still looking!
