Chocolate Chip Pie (A Cure For Loneliness)

This weekend the guys were gone on a "guy" trip, and I was left home alone. I've always told Rich I need a little girl to hang with for times like that, but it just wasn't meant to be. However, I usually actually revel in my alone time. I just really enjoy cleaning and baking while no one else is home and then curling up with a snack and a good book or chick flick. However, for some reason, I was lonely this time. I think it's because I've been working so much and I miss my guys. So, what is a lonely girl to do to cure her sadness? We all know the answer....chocolate.

If you followed my link last week to the awesome Bakerella Blog (also in my blogroll), then you may have seen this recipe. Not only is it FAST and super EASY, but I tell you, it's heaven on a plate. It's a thick, giant piece of warm, gooey chocolate chip cookie. One bite and I forgot that I was alone and left behind....I was happy that I didn't have to share!

Chocolate Chip Pie (originally from Nestle, featured on Bakerella)
1 unbaked 9-inch (4-cup volume) deep-dish pie shell*
2 large eggs
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter, softened
1 cup (6 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1 cup chopped pecans

Beat eggs in large mixer bowl on high until foamy. Beat in flour, granulated sugar and brown sugar. Beat in butter.

Stir in morsels and nuts and spoon into pie shell:

Bake for 55-60 minutes. Cool on wire rack.

I made some cute little chocolate accents from melted semi-sweet chocolate chips and stuck them into some piped whipped cream.

I'm working an extra night this week, so I may not get to my Wednesday Fun Day this week, although I will still be updating! I may have to do the Fun Day on Friday instead. I have a question for all of you today....Please leave me some comments letting me know what you'd like to see more or less of here! What do you enjoy? What do you find hokey or annoying (besides me?) Do you have any new ideas that I could consider or recommendations? I'd love to hear what you all think, and really value hearing honest opinions. That's what friends are for!!!

I really like your blog as it is. It comes across as a normal woman (like most of us) who's working and keeping pace with her family and still trying to be creative in the kitchen. We all play around with recipes just like you and it's nice to get ideas from other people. We all eat real meals and desserts and love cheese and watch our weight. I think your's is terrific.

I don't have a blog, but I'm a weekend baker too. Working all the time, involved in all kinds of activities, etc. Love checking in with you every few days

Tanya, we make chocolate chip pie every Thanksgiving in lieu of pumpkin, and serve it up with peppermint ice cream. We like it so much we do it again at Christmas, then don't make it again all year to keep it special!
Every choice you make for your blog keeps it interesting. Don't change a thing!!

I just SO love your blog! You and your story as a mother are inspiring to me. I am busy cooking my way through your blog. I really enjoy the tween foods and kid friendly stuff you post, because I have 2 young boys and love cooking fun stuff with them or for them. We made the jello ring a few times and just did the halloween snack mix- such fun and the easy factor is great too. Thanks and keep up the good work!

The only thing I would like to see is the kitchen that you create all those wonderful dishes in! Oh, and keep those recipes coming, you are amazing!

I love TRIED and true recipes. Things that you cook and have perfected. Recipes that are quick and easy for working women.
I HATE when someone posts a recipe they have never tried!! why?
So more quick, easy, and tried and true recipes!!
LOVE your blog.

Loving the great pics. I love how you show the steps. For example when you made these chocolate shapes. It means so much more to see it than to just read about it. I've tried several recipes in the past that require this skill. I'm gonna try it, but this time I think I might be more successful than in the past thanks to the demo.
